திருமனதிற்கு முன் மணமகன் மணமகளின் இல்ல பெரியவர்கள் கூடி இந்த மணமகனுக்கும் இந்த மணமகளை கல்யாணம் செய்வதாய் நிச்சியப்பது பரிசம் ஆகும். பரிசத்தின் போது  பாக்கு வெற்றிலை மாற்றிக்கொள்வது வழக்கமாகும். மேலும் திருமண தேதியும் குறிக்கப்பட்டு முகூர்த்தம் வாசிக்கபடும். இது பரிசம் போடுதல்  என்னும் நிச்சய தாம்பூலம் ஆகும். முகூர்த்த ஓலை(வாசித்தல்). என்றும் சொல்லுவார்கள். புது மண தம்பதிகளின் வளமான வாழ்விற்கு பூஜைகள் செய்யபடும.

 

Parisam is a betrothal ceremony which takes place before the wedding ceremony. The bride and the groom will undergo an engagement ritual in the presence of elders from both the bride’s and the groom’s families. It is customary to exchange areca nuts and betel leaves during Parisam. The wedding date will be fixed and the auspicious time for the wedding will be announced. This is also known as Nichaya Thamboolam (Engagement Ceremony) or Muhurta Olai Vaasithal (Reading of the Wedding Invitation). Prayers will also be performed for the well-being of the bride and groom.
