நாமகரணம் - பெயர் சூட்டும் விழா கோயிலிலோ வீடுகளிலோ செய்யலாம், குழந்தை பிறந்து புண்ணியாக வாசனத்தன்றோ அல்லது மற்றொரு சுப நாளிலோ பெயர் சூட்டுதல் வேண்டும். பெயர் அவர்களின் கலாச்சாரத்தை ஒட்டியதாக இருப்பது சிறப்பாகும். தாத்தா, பாட்டி போன்ற பெரியவர்களின் பெயரையோ அல்லது இறைவனின்  பெயரையோ சூட்டுவார்கள். பிறந்த நக்ஷத்திரத்திற்கு உரிய எழுத்துகளை முதலாகக் கொண்டு பெயர் சூட்டுவதும் மரபு ஆகும். பெயரை அவரரவர்களின் தாய் மொழியில் நெல் அல்லது அரிசி முதலிய தானியங்களில் முதலில் எழுதிய பின்பு தந்தை குழந்தையின் வலது காதில் மூன்று முறை கூறுவது வழக்கமான நடைமுறையாக உள்ளது.

Namakaranam or Naming Ceremony can be conducted at the temple or at home, on the day of Punyagavachanam or any other auspicious day. It would great to give the child a name that is representative of their culture. It is customary to name the newborn after grandparents or deities, just as it is traditional to name the child based on the first letter as per the child’s birth star. The name is first written on rice grains in the child’s mother tongue and then whispered into the ears of the newborn three times by its father.
